The Oregon Trail Game: Journey to Willamette Valley

You packed the wagon. You have supplies. You have a plan. Unfortunately, the Oregon Trail has other ideas. Make your way west, manage your supplies, hunt for food, and deal with the many ways things can go wrong along the trail. And yes, dysentery is still here. We have had a 7-year-old play our copy just fine despite the publisher's 14+ rating.

WHY RENT THIS ONE

Why it's worth a spot on your weekend

“You have died of dysentery. Please try again.”

You have supplies. You have a wagon. You have a destination. What could possibly go wrong?

Quite a lot, actually.

The Oregon Trail brings the classic computer-game journey to the tabletop, sending your group west while you manage food, supplies, hunting, river crossings, disasters, and all the other ways the trail can make you question your life choices. Yes, dysentery made the trip. It would not be Oregon Trail without it.

This is a particularly fun rental for families because parents often recognize it immediately while kids get to experience the infamous journey for themselves. It creates stories as you play, especially when your perfectly prepared wagon somehow meets disaster anyway. We have had a 7-year-old play our copy successfully despite the publisher's 14+ rating, so do not let that number automatically scare you away if your family has younger players who enjoy this kind of thing.
