Resource Tokens

Small cardboard or wooden pieces standing in for in-game currency, materials, or points.

Detailed definition

Resource tokens are the small physical stand-ins for whatever a game’s economy runs on — wood, wheat, coins, influence, victory points, whatever the theme calls for. They’re usually punched cardboard or simple wooden shapes, sorted by type and color so a glance at someone’s stash tells you roughly where they stand without any counting.

They’re also the components that pile up fastest and matter least individually — losing three wheat out of a hundred barely registers, which is exactly why they’re tracked by count rather than piece-by-piece on our end. Games that lean hard on worker placement or engine-building tend to generate the biggest piles of them, and a full baggie at return is mostly what we’re checking for, not an exact tally down to the last token.
