GLOSSARY · Game Mechanics
Push Your Luck
A mechanic that dares you to keep risking what you've already gained against a rising chance of losing all of it.
Detailed definition
Push-your-luck games hand you a simple, repeating choice: bank what you’ve won so far, or take one more risk and try to win more. Each additional draw, roll, or flip usually makes the odds worse, so the game becomes a running argument with yourself about when “one more” turns into “too far.” Lose the gamble and you can walk away with nothing for the round.
It’s an easy mechanic to explain to anyone at the table, which makes it a reliable pick for mixed-age groups or a night when nobody wants to sit through a long rules explanation. The tension comes from the decision, not the complexity, so don’t mistake a light rulebook for a boring game — these can get genuinely tense fast.
