GLOSSARY · Sensory & Neurodivergent Play

Neurodivergent

An umbrella term for brains that process, learn, and experience the world differently than what's considered typical — autism and ADHD are two examples, not the whole list.

Detailed definition

Neurodivergent covers a wide range of brains that don’t fit the “typical” mold — autism and ADHD are the two people hear about most, but the word covers a lot more ground than that. It’s not a diagnosis in itself and it’s not a single experience; two neurodivergent people can process a loud room, a long rulebook, or a surprise rule change in completely different ways.

We’re a neurodivergent household, and it’s why this glossary has an entire section on sensory terms instead of treating them as a footnote. The sensory level and Quiet Kit tags on our listings both come out of the same place: rating things by how a game actually lands at a real table, not just what the box promises.
