Info Dumping

Enthusiastically sharing detailed knowledge about a favorite topic — a common and genuinely positive way autistic people connect, not oversharing to be corrected.

Detailed definition

Info dumping is sharing a lot of detail about something you love, at length, because the sharing itself is the point — not a social misstep, and not something to shut down. It’s a well-documented way a lot of autistic people build connection: here’s everything I know about this thing, because I want you to see why I love it too.

A board game table is a genuinely good place for it. Someone walking a new player through every rule, every card interaction, every reason a strategy works, isn’t being a lot — they’re doing the thing that makes this hobby work, one enthusiastic explanation at a time.
