Friendly Local Game Store
Hobby shorthand for an independent, locally owned game shop — as opposed to a big-box aisle.
Detailed definition
FLGS is what tabletop players call the independent shop down the street that actually knows its stock — the owner can tell you which gateway game fits your group and which one gets returned after one play, because they’ve watched both happen at their own tables. It’s the opposite of a big-box aisle where the games are shelved next to puzzles and nobody working there has opened the box.
We’re not a store, so we’re not trying to be your FLGS — we don’t have a register or a shelf you walk into. But a lot of the titles in our rotation started life on an FLGS shelf, and if you fall for something you rent from us, your local shop is usually where you go to actually own a copy.
