Dice Tray

A felt-lined tray that catches rolled dice so they stay put instead of skittering across the table.

Detailed definition

A dice tray is a shallow, felt- or fabric-lined box or fold-out mat that a roll lands in and stays in. Instead of launching dice down a hollow tower, you roll right inside the tray — the raised edges keep everything from bouncing onto the floor, and the soft lining quiets the clatter and keeps dice from denting a wooden table.

It’s a lower-key alternative to a dice tower: no drop, no baffles, just a controlled space to roll in. Some folding versions double as a component holder during setup, which is handy on a table that’s already crowded with a board, cards, and everyone’s drinks. Like other small accessories, whether one ships with a given rental comes down to what that specific game’s box actually includes.
