D10

A ten-sided die numbered 0 through 9, used on its own for a 1-to-10 roll or paired up for percentile results.

Detailed definition

The D10 is a ten-sided die shaped like two shallow cones stuck together, with kite-shaped faces numbered 0 through 9 instead of 1 through 10 — the 0 usually stands in for 10, depending on the game. On its own, it gives a clean 1-to-10 spread, which is a common target range for skill checks and simple resolution systems.

Its second job is the more famous one: paired with a second, differently colored D10, the two dice together make percentile dice, reading out a number from 1 to 100. If a listing calls out a D10 by itself, expect a lighter roll-and-check system; if it mentions two of them together, you’re looking at a percentile-based game.
