WHO WE ARE
A household that rents out games.
No shop, no counter, no lounge to walk into. Deep Space Family Games is Jessica's, run out of Plattekill with her family pitching in, and the games we send out get played at our own table first.
WHO'S BEHIND IT
Jessica runs it. The household tests it.
For a long time this was just how our family spent an evening — playing games, testing games, arguing over rules, figuring out which ones actually held up at our table. Jessica Affee owns and runs Deep Space Family Games now, with the rest of the household, Zoi and Logan included, pitching in around the edges.
It's a neurodivergent house, kids included, and that's not a detail we're putting on a banner — it's why a game gets played here, by everybody, before it ever goes on the list. Is it loud? Complicated? Does it take forever to set up? Can someone step away and jump back in without losing their place? When we write down that a game runs loud or the rules take two goes to land, it's because somebody here needed to know that and couldn't find it printed on the box.
You still pick the game — that part's yours. What we bring is a household that already knows how it plays.
HOW WE VET
What happens before a game reaches the list
-
It gets played at our table
Adults and kids both, more than once, before it goes anywhere near your table.
-
We write down what the box left out
The listing carries the box facts either way — players, play time, the age on the lid. What gets added is whatever playing it taught us that the lid doesn't say.
-
Some of the heavy ones get a cheat sheet
The official rulebook always comes in the box. On a few of the involved titles we've also written a quick-reference sheet, so nobody is flipping through twelve pages mid-turn.
-
A few travel pre-sorted
Some of the bigger games go out with an organizer tray we bought for them, so setup isn't fifteen minutes of sorting cubes into piles before anyone rolls a die.
-
Some games just don’t make it
A title that reads beautifully but dies at a real table doesn’t go on the list, no matter how good the reviews are.

TO BE CLEAR
What this business isn't
-
There’s no shop
Nothing to walk into and nowhere to browse a shelf in person. The whole idea is that we drive the game to you, not the other way around.
-
We don’t ship anywhere
Delivery and pickup are both local, both by appointment. If you’re outside our range, we’ll tell you honestly rather than mail you a box.
-
It’s a request, not an instant booking
Send us what you want and we’ll write back to confirm it’s free. Slower than a spinner, but you get an actual reply from an actual person.
-
We’re not trying to out-stock anyone
The list stays short on purpose. Everything on it has been played here first, which is a harder limit than shelf space.
ONE EXCEPTION
We do occasionally show up in person.
Not a shop, not a standing invitation — but we do turn up as a vendor at local pop-up events sometimes. See Pop-Up Events for what that actually looks like.
